Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The Journal of Environmental Nanotechnology (JENT) recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly publishing and supports their responsible and transparent use in research communication.

Use of AI Tools by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools only for limited purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, readability enhancement, and formatting assistance. Authors are fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of all submitted content.

AI tools must not be used to:

fabricate or manipulate data;
generate misleading scientific conclusions;
create fake references or citations; or
produce deceptive images, figures, or experimental results.

Disclosure of AI Usage

Authors must clearly disclose the use of AI tools in the manuscript, including the name of the tool and the purpose for which it was used.

Example:

“The authors used ChatGPT solely for language refinement and grammar improvement during manuscript preparation.”

Authorship

AI tools and AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Only human contributors who meet the journal’s authorship criteria shall be recognized as authors.

AI-generated Images and Data

Any AI-generated or AI-modified images, graphical content, datasets, or scientific outputs must be properly disclosed in the manuscript. The Editorial Board may request original or raw files for verification.

Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain the strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and shall not upload confidential content to public AI platforms or third-party AI tools.

Editorial decisions and peer-review evaluations shall always remain under human supervision and responsibility.

Policy Violations

Undisclosed or unethical use of AI technologies may result in manuscript rejection, requests for correction, retraction, or other editorial actions in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies.

Policy Updates

This policy may be updated periodically in accordance with evolving international publishing standards and ethical guidelines concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence in scholarly communication.
