Abstract

The inhibition effect of Crossandra infundibuliformis leaves (C.I.L) on the corrosion of mild steel in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The corrosion rate of mild steel and inhibition efficiencies were calculated. The results obtained show that the inhibition was found to increase with increasing conc entration of the plant extract. Polarization curves revealed that C.I.L inhibitor acts as mixed type inhibitorand inhibition efficiency follows the order: H2SO4 >HCl.
